Second Geidai Art Plaza Award Exhibition

Second Geidai Art Plaza Award Exhibition

The second Geidai Art Plaza Award 2007 exhibition was held from December 4 through December 24. Beginning last year, this in-school art competition is aimed at making student art work accessible to the population at large. Chosen by impartial juries, the works receiving awards are exhibited at this Plaza for sale. This year, 29 students received awards for a total of 64 works based on the concept of "life," this year's theme.

Geidai Art Plaza, where the exhibition took place, was built in 2005 as a nexus between society and the arts. Here, works by University teachers and graduate students are exhibited and sold. This year, the grand prize went to graduate student Mitsuta Haruo for his intricately carved metal hermit crab. Mitsuta expressed his enthusiasm at receiving the award with a vivid description of his efforts to imbue life into the metal.
