KOIZUMI Fumio Memorial Archives opened on June 6, 1985, at the Faculty of Music, TOKYO GEIJUTSU DAIGAKU (Tokyo National University of the Arts) (the former name : Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music) in Tokyo, Japan.

The late Professor KOIZUMI was a world famous ethnomusicologist. This collection is the result of his worldwide fieldwork covering many countries.

The collection containing instruments, books, music scores, disks, recorded tapes, photographs, field notes, folk costumes, etc., was collected by the late Professor KOIZUMI Fumio (1927-83) throughout his lifetime.

The entire collection was donated to TOKYO GEIJUTSU DAIGAKU (Tokyo University of the Arts) (the former name : Tokyo National University of Fine Arts) by his widow for use in research for ethnomusicology (ethnology of music and anthropology of music), history of Asian music, history of Japanese music, organology etc. by scholars in and outside of the university.

We are excited to present the KOIZUMI Fumio Memorial Archives on the Internet and to provide facilities for researchers of topics related to ethnomusicology.
