Szymon Goldberg Collection |
Szymon Goldberg (1909-1993) was a violinist and conductor, who was born in Poland. He was selected as the concertmaster of Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra at the young age of 16 and 19, respectively. In addition, he performed as a soloist with many world-renowned orchestras and appeared as a conductor. In his latter years, he was based in Tokyo and Toyama (Tateyama Kokusai Hotel), performing and conducting in Japan. He was a lifetime musician until his sudden death in July 1993. Goldberg’s highly valued materials including his possessions of western
books, music scores, audio materials, programs and others were donated
to the Center for Music Research at Tokyo University of the Arts by his
family. This collection, entitled “Szymon Goldberg Collection,” is open
