The wooden slabs are placed on the boat-shaped resonating box. Two mallets, one held in each hand, are used to strike the slabs. The two mallets have wooden heads which are wrapped in cloth and handles which are made of the horn of water buffalo are quite flexible. Characterized by the fast movement based on light tones and playing in unison. Used in gamelan ensembles as a melodic instrument. Two snakes with intertwined tails are sculpted on the protruding ends of the resonator box.
