Also called kkwaengmaegi or soe. The cord connected to the rim is either held in one hand to support the instrument and the front is struck with the mallet held in the other hand. Used in folk music and performances, such as shamanistic music, p'ungmul (farmer's band music) and Buddhist ceremonial music. The instrument in the archives is used in p'ungmul instrumental music.
