coconut shell body, animal hide over the front face; L. 68.5 cm
2 steel strings

The body is a hollow coconut shell, which is pieced by a wooden rod and bound in strings of rattan. Sound holes are cut in the back of the resonator so as to suggest human eyes and mouth. Two steel strings of different thickness pass from the string holder to the top of the neck, where they are wound tuning pegs.
