One end of the many pieces of wood including added handles at both ends are strung together with a cotton cord. The stack of wooden plates are played by moving them in the manner of a wave. Held by the dancers in dengaku-odori (rural dance and music associated with harvest ceremonies). Also used in kabuki theater.
