An end-blown flute made of reed cane with eight nodes. One end of the bore has been tapered off to a sharp edge. One fingerhole has been opened near the center of the back surface. Somewhat lower, on the front surface, are six more holes. The player holds the instrument at an angle while playing, producing a breathy sound. Used in both classical and folk music.
