A type of clapper made of a thin bamboo tube which is split in half leaving the lower end of the tube intact. The lower end is held, and shaken up and down to create sound. Used to play simple rhythmic patterns in folk music and folk dance. Originally u sed to frighten away animals but is currently used for performance. Principally used in the Assam region.
