A large, suspended gong. Struck on a central boss with a beater of cloth wrapped around a wooden head. The sound resonates for a long time. The pitch is low and indistinct. Used in gamelan ensembles as the largest colotomic instrument. Usually suspended in pairs, with the bosses facing each other.
