The performer kneels in seiza position and supports the lnstrument with the left hand in front of the knees. Played with a bow held ln the right hand, the tension of which is regulated by the fourth finger. The bow is shifted from one string to another by turning the whole instrument with the left hand. Used in classical music of the Okinawan tradition.
