There is a round soundhole in the right face of the instrument. A horse's head is carved at the end of the neck. The strings and bow are made from horse hair bound together. The player supports the instrument by placing it between the knees, turned at a slight angle to the left. The strings are stopped with the left hand, using the upper face of the nails of the middle and index fingers, the side of the fouth finger closest to the little finger, and the tip of the little finger itself. Played as a solo instrument, in ensemble and accompaniment styles of folk song. This example was made in the 1970s
