The player sits on a chair, places the instrument on the left knee, using a support device shaped to fit the top of the knee. He holds the instrument vertically while bowing with the right hand. Another piece of animal hide is stretched on the inside of the resonator near the bottom, and a wooden sound post is placed between. Used in accompaniment and ensemble styles.
