An arched harp said to have originated in ancient India. The player sits cross-legged and places the tip of the boat-shaped body on the right knee, with the neck curved around the left front of the torso. The strings are for the most part plucked with the fingers of the right hand, while pitch is regulated with those of the left hand. Played as a solo instrument, in instrumental ensembles and for accompanying vocal music
