A kind of chordophone with variable tension. The instrument consists of two single- headed drums, one very small and one large. Between the two heads two nylon strings have been stretched. The large drum is held in pace under the left arm and the small drum is held in the left hand. Played with a plectrum held in the right hand while the left hand adjusts the tension of the strings. Used mainly for religious purposes by the baul (minstrels). Also called ānand laharī (wave of joy).
