The growing world of flute music

A recital was held on June 24 to welcome Prof. Pierre-Yves Artaud from the Conservatoire de Paris.

Prof. Artaud is renowned both in France and around the world as an authority on contemporary flute performance. He currently guides young flutists at the Conservatoire de Paris and the ?cole Normale de Musique de Paris. On this visit to Japan, he brought selected students from the Conservatoire de Paris for a recital in which he and his students, together with faculty and students from the flute program in the University’s Department of Instrumental Music, tackled the challenges posed by the latest works in a performance entitled “Competitive Performances of Contemporary Music.”
